 A gentle breeze does not do the trick... July 30, 2010

I bought this cooler today for my laptop because my laptop has heat issues. This Logitech N100 cooler hardly lowers the temperature of the laptop. When I place my hands over the fans, I feel a very gentle rise of cool air which could be comparable to a newborn baby's exhale. This cooler is meant for laptops that do not have overheating issues. Do not get this cooler if your laptop is gets vey hot. I believe this product is rated so highly because it is ultra quiet and has a sleek design. But the fans are not strong, the case is made out of plastic and it is highly over rated. Even a 3-star Targus cooler cools better than this.
I plan on returning it and would not suggest purchasing it. I would suggest purchasing the Zalman ZM-NC2000 which is constructed out of aluminum and is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I read all the reviews for the logitech N100 here and went ahead and ordered one of my extremely hot laptop. My laptop(dell inspiron 1525) has a really bad heating problem and shuts down at the 10th minute of any video I watch on it due to overheating. I ordered this cooling pad since it has one of the highest ratings among all the other products. My experience with it has been utterly disappointing. The fan is very slow and has no speed regulators and is fixed at one speed. This will be good if you just want your laptop does not shut down due to the heat or scar your thigh when you place it on your lap. The only difference this product has made to my laptop is that it has slowed the shut off by 10 minutes. However, when I opened the bottom L shaped plastic covering the heat sink of the comp and kept it exposed to the fan directly, it cools well. This is a very comfortable pad with a very sleek design that can fit right in your backpack and will help to keep your laptop from facing extreme heat problems. Finally, I would definitely recommend this product for people with fairly new laptops and want to extend its life but not for people who look for a good solution for their infernal laptops. Having read this, can anyone please recommend me a good cooling pad for my problem.

The design is great and it is designed just right to allow adequate airflow even if you are sitting in bed where clothing/sheets could potentially hinder it. All fans work fine when the laptop is on a desk but the point of a laptop is to be in your lap right? Even though the design of it is perfect with the waved format it sadly provides little airflow. the single fan just isn't enough. They need more fans and placed in different spots. The one fan that sits at the top of the cooling device isn't nearly enough to cool a laptop that is prone to overheating. (Which is probably why you bought the fan in the first place right?) It keep the laptop cooler than it would be without a fan but still not cool enough. I have used fans before that will really cool it down but the designs aren't as nice. But I would prefer better cooling.
The durability seems to be good though. The past few fans I have bought seemed to last only a few months before dying just because of poor build. (mostly with the plugs). This one seems like it would last a good while but could really use more airflow.

My laptop would overheat to the point of discomfort, even with a portable lap desk between the computer and my lap. I kept having to either let it hibernate for a while or totally power it down. It was at its worse when I was trying to watch a movie or YouTube videos. I researched many different cooling pads, and decided to try this one. I was surprised how feather light it felt and then how whisper quiet the fan was. The overall design is very ergonomic and comfortable, and best of all, it totally does the trick!! Even the USB cable that connects the pad to the computer and thus powers the fan is designed in a way that is completely unobtrusive and does not create wire clutter. I highly recommend this!

Overall it is a good product, but if you have a 17inch monitor, be wary. Mine tends to get HOTTER because my fans under my laptop are on the sides, not the center. The one I bought for my girlfriend (her laptop is smaller) is doing it's job perfectly. So I give this product a BIG thumbs up for any laptop under 17 inches.
Lightweight, durable, easy to use and manage. I love it.
