1 out of 5 stars Avoid   June 29, 2010

I bought this laptop for my daughter and it has proven to be nothing but a bunch of headaches. First, the 'touch' part of the computer had to be turned off because the mouse cursor would flip all over the screen after the machine had been up for a while. Next, the wireless switch on the laptop stopped working and had to be replaced. Finally, the hard drive just failed and HP is having to send me a new one. All within 8 months. Plus, I'm having to pay HP to send me a copy of the Windows software that was installed on the machine. Every other laptop I've bought included a disk of the software with the machine (which is right, since you did pay for it).

I'd never buy another one and I doubt that I'll ever buy another HP period.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible Laptop, Everything breaks   June 22, 2010

I knew it was a bit of a gamble going for a HP laptop, but other tablets from Dell and Lenovo were $2000 more.

Here are the problems with this P.O.S.

1. First the hard drive failed on me within the first 2 months. A new one was put in by HP, and now I get the odd screen that says it can't find a bootable device. I turn it off, then back on, and it seems to work -until the next time.

2. The clock gets messed up and starts going "warp speed". Everything goes super fast and you can't control anything. Restart the machine and does not fix, the laptop will hibernate before you can even type in your password. I have to turn it off, unplug it, remove the battery, and wait 1 minute, then turn it on and its fine -until it happens again!

3. The battery died after 10 months. Will only last 15 minutes are so. I get a warning every time I start up that the battery is not optimal.

I wish I had not bought this tablet PC :( I have had to reload Windows 4 times now!

3 out of 5 stars ADDING INTERNAL BLUETOOTH   May 13, 2010

Personally I am not impressed with the laptop b/c it is slow, Winodw 7 is not good either, My XP laptop works better. Too many unnecessary softwares, Grainy display should have been Glossy.

You can do a factory installed Bluetooth - Here is how I did it.

I just bought TX2-1370us and came to know it is without bluetooth.

Here is what I did.

Buy a original bluetooth chip from Ebay - It comes as a kit with bluetooth chip, 8pin wire and a screw to secure it inside.

You can download service manual for TX2z from HP website which can tell you how to open the computer. However, there are unecessary steps in opening the computer to reach the space for bluetooth installation space. It says you need to detach display, switch cover etc which are unnecessary steps. I do not know who wrote the service manual.

Here is what you need to do

1. Disconnect the power cord

2. Remove battery

3. Remove Hard Drive

4. Remove Optical Drive

5. Remove Keyboard by taking off 4 screws from back and unplugging the cable

6. Remove front cover by removing 8 screws from back (Service manual says 7screws) 2 below the keyboard, unplug the mouse/pointing device cable

7. Attach the bluetooth module with cable in its place (Cable is unnecessarily long).

8. Reassemble the Laptop in reverse order.

9. When you reboot the computer it will automatically install the driver.

At every bootup my laptop gives me a message that the bluetooth is disabled & under device manager it says it is woking fine. Maybe the ones with factory install have a on off switch which I do not have but it does not matter. It continues to say disable but works fine with all functions. You can search bluetooth device, pair it, connect it etc. I was able to find and connect my Blutooth printer to it etc - so i do not worry about the message that device is disabled.

You get a factory installed bluetooth for $18 from ebay & if you have some simple skills to unscrew the front cover and rescrew it again.

5 out of 5 stars Great Value   March 5, 2010

This is my first laptop, at first I thought it might be too small but for portability its just right. I wanted a full feature laptop and with the exception of HDMI out and Blu-Ray drive, it has everything I would want in a laptop.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome experience with an awesome product   February 4, 2010

I must say that when I plugged this laptop in, it was like Christmas, the product is amazing..The pen makes a mouse unneccessary even tho I had already purchased one, I doubt I will be using it much..The response is lightning fast, the touch very amazing also.,.all and all, amazing , amazing and did I mention amazing. I own a Touchsmart Desktop for a year now, and it is a great computer also, but I wanted something that I could sit on the bed and play games on , and this computer more that fits the bill. Its everything I hoped for and more. I would highly recommend it to anyone, it is well worth the price, I only gave 988.00 when I got mine but I am glad I did buy it..Enjoy..by the way the swivel screen is really cool too,I just ordered a stand for it will make it more convenient and keep the laptop cool..
