good hardware, good drivers, bad dynadock utility July 21, 2010 James Manning You'll find the 'Control-E' or 'Ctrl-E' issue in a bunch of different places once you hit it yourself. It's because of a utility added that does very little useful (some notification messages) and its decision to bind at least one key sequence (Ctrl-E) globally. It seems like a pretty bad choice given how it's used even inside Windows (takes you to the search box in IE, Control Panel, etc.) not to mention tons of other programs (other browsers, anything using emacs keybindings for editing, etc). The utility has checkbox choices for turning off its notification messages, but NOT for that global keybinding.
Thankfully there's a simple enough workaround - just uninstall the dynadock utility which shows up as 'dynadock Utility_II' for me (NOT the dynadock software, which in add/remove programs shows up as 'TOSHIBA dynadock' - you want to keep that one).
Once the utility is gone, Ctrl-E works fine again.
As a workaround it works for others as well:

after reading all the forums about CTRL E and and not finding a solution I spent a few minutes and looked at install process etc. Just go to add/remove programs and uninstall the Dynadock Utilty. It is the source of all your issues and is relatively useless otherwise. Does not effect the dock.

Did not work with Lenovo T42 July 7, 2010 AMIT NAYYAR (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania United States) I bought this to work primarily with a Lenovo T42, but after the initial installation, it did not detect the external monitor that I had hooked up and then on trying to switch displays using the "Fn" hotkey, my laptop screen went blank as well. Uninstalling the software was painful as the video driver would not uninstall properly and the subsequent installs would not succeed. Had to finally return the dock, after several attempts at installing and uninstalling the drivers. It just didn't work with my external monitor
Toshiba Dynadock U June 28, 2010 Baalbaki, Toronto Hi everyone, I have been using Toshiba Dynadock U for 1 month so far it is running like a charm no problem. I recommend it anyone need one.
Great way to use laptop as desktop June 25, 2010 B. A. Siepker (Mountain Home, AR United States) This unit is easy to install and it worked the first time with my Toshiba laptop running Windows 7. Getting the other items connected, such as, the MF printer, sound, and other usb accessories was easy. The printer works well with the other computers on our home network, just as if it were connected directly to the laptop. Programs load fast and everything that I have used worked as well as if used directly on the laptop.
As you might expect, some things run a bit slower because everything has to be funnelled through a single USB connection. Video is probably where this is most notable. It may not be satisfactory for some high speed games, but so far I haven't had any issues with that. For normal computing, working on the web and managing files it is transparant. I am very happy with this unit as it does everything that I expected it to do.
Excellent Product June 22, 2010 Andrew Ciesler (Toledo, OH) This product is excellent. Windows 7 automatically downloads the drivers and within a few minutes you are up and running. The NIC drivers don't install until you restart the system so they'll show up as "Driver didn't correctly install.." but it'll work just fine. I use the audio, USB hub, and run dual monitors with this docking station and I have no complains. Haven't tried the optical audio though.
