very dubious battery life June 15, 2010 S. A. Adebowale The battery life is not up to 2hrs. Please don't buy it for the battery life. The manufacturer should retract this claim of more than 4hrs, it is close to fraud.
Compaq - great screen, great price, very wrong on battery life. March 19, 2010 Barryvabeach (Virginia Beach VA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this machine recently with a few goals in mind. Primarily I would use it at the house, but maybe every few months I fly somewhere and thought I could use it to play movies on the flight. The materials say 4.5 hour battery life. I brought it home, charged it overnight, then cleaned off all the useless programs, turned off anything I didn't need, like wireless, copied a movie I recorded off TV onto the harddrive, and turned the screen brightness way down. I barely got to 2 hours. I recharged it over night, and got the same result. I tried it one more time, and even with the sound off, I couldn't get past 2 hours. On the plus side, while plugged in the screen resolution is great, the touch pad has a very elegant touch ( much better than the HP dm3-1130us I ended up with) and while it is heavy, it isn't much heavier than the competition. I didn't test it much in the way of speed, though I thought most of the keys worked well and had a nice feel. If they didn't exaggerate the battery life so much, I would not have bought it. If it came with an 8 or 12 cell battery, I might have kept it. I instead went with a smaller screen and no optical drive, hope the battery on that one lasts longer.
Good for the money. February 17, 2010 Walter D. Argo (cape cod) A good buy. A good basic laptop with a good screen. Pretty fast for the money and good applications included especially for e-mail. Not awfully robust. We are on our second one, a fall off the desk did in the hard drive in the first one and we found it to be the same price to purchase new as to replace the hard drive.
very pleased with this computer February 1, 2010 A. Wasserman 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this computer to replace a 4 year old Toshiba laptop that cost twice as much.
This Compaq was easy to set-up and it's a pleasure to use.
The processor is a single core combined with 2 gigs of RAM and it handles
basic computing with little stress.
The screen has brightness to spare and you can tweak the sound quality.
This computer runs cool on AC or battery power.(much cooler than the Toshiba)
I am very pleased with this computer and windows7 too.
Nice computer for the price December 14, 2009 Greendaizies (Phoenix, AZ USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This is the second laptop I have purchased, both of which were Compaq.
I got this laptop to upload pictures, surf the internet, and for general use around the house. The monitor is great and the picture is crisp and bright. The speed of this laptop is just what I had hoped for. I love the keypad that this laptop has...a big plus for the price!
I got a great deal on this laptop. I wanted a good laptop without having a huge bottom line to spend. I would recommend this laptop...Great little laptop! I don't regret sticking with Compaq.
The options available on this laptop, including the battery life are very good. I am able to work on things for hours and not worry about the battery dying.
The overall feel of this laptop is also great...it is smooth and sleek and looks great just sitting on the counter.
