Wonderful laptop! July 10, 2010 Gerald H. Youngquist (Minnesota) This model is one terrific machine and when that is added to its very reasonable price, it is simply perfect. Lightweight, good looking, with the Win7 64bit OS and 4GB ram it is an excellent performer as well. The screen is startlingly clear especially to those moving from the older TFT screens. Glare was a concern for me here but proves to be unfounded. The screen's shiny exterior does have some reflection but the clarity and brilliance offered by this screen overpowers the reflections to make them a non-issue. As for downsides, the keys are flat. That is an admittedly personal choice issue and should not be a deterrent as they can become accustomed to in fairly short order. The only other (slight) negative is the sound is a bit wimpy. I don't care because I don't use this machine for entertainment. Speaking of entertainment, with the Toshiba DVD drive (optional) playing movies is a snap and they play flawlessly (although one might want to plug in external speakers). None of these downsides warrants a lesser number of stars. If this machine were lost or stolen I wouldn't hesitate to get another just like it.
Perfect for our student! July 2, 2010 mj23ChiFan 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This laptop is the perfect "fit" for our daughter entering Middle School. The Middle School has no books and uses only laptops for all assignments. Since this laptop is very light and thin, yet powerful and feature-rich, it's the perfect "fit" for her. We are pleased with it's performance, look, feel, weight and size. We are also very pleased with Windows 7. It's MUCH more user-friendly than Windows Vista and quite a pleasure to use. We'd highly recommend this laptop to anyone, especially someone who wants power and portability.
Toshiba T135 June 29, 2010 Ibrahim Alameddine (Durham, NC USA) Overall, I like the T135. It is light, very practical, and has (till now) a good battery life. Yet there are a few things that i found annoying:
1) The speakers on this machine are soooooooooooo bad. I had to buy an external USB speaker to correct for that. I do not understand why Toshiba decided to go with these speakers. One reason for me to buy the T135 was the integrated camera and mic. I wanted a laptop with no wires whatsoever. I never though I will have to have an external speaker connected!
2) The touch pad and its keys are not that fun to work with. But for me that was ok as I use the mouse most of the time.
3) The F1 through F12 keys can do too many tasks depending on the combination of keys you press with them. Too confusing. Could have simplified it.
Overall, i still find the T135 as a good choice given its features and price.
Simply Great !!!! June 24, 2010 Sergio Aguero (HONDURAS) I bougth two of this power houses, they are incredible value when you compare performance-cost,
Very Happy! June 15, 2010 Ebuyer Bought the T135-S1330 for my daughter for college.
The speaker problem was easily fixed (best fixed using the "loudness" technique).
The touch pad issue doesn't seem to be an issue, and the web cam issue (originally disappointing) seems to work fine in actual use.
This left a perfectly working laptop that is very fast, light, and attractive.
I'm happy that I didn't get the T135*D* model (AMD Turion Neo) - my sense is that they run hotter with less battery life. (Also less memory and smaller disk on some.)
Currently, this item seems to be out of stock (and shows some ridiculous price for an unrelated item!). I can't find it for sale on Toshiba's web site either - only the D model is listed as "pre-built". I don't understand this. Does Toshiba custom build them for their distributors? In any case, I hope Amazon gets the new models of the T135 back in stock.
If I had to do it over, I might have checked out the Asus UL30A a bit more, but I have no regrets (so far!) with this model.
