5 out of 5 stars Awesome Laptop!   May 24, 2010

I've been a Gateway fan way back from the days of the cow advertisements in the computer magazines (before they had the stores and then closed the stores). I never once hesitated on looking at this brand when I was shopping around for laptops. Most people tried to push me toward the bigger named ones--Acer, Toshiba, Dell, and HP. After doing extensive comparisons, none of the big brands began to offer the same numbers that the Gateway did, and it was cheaper than the rest. My only concern was buying from Tiger Direct as I previously worked for a computer company that got lots of bad experiences from products they sold. However, they delivered the laptop the very next day from me ordering--no exaggeration. I had the laptop in my hands before I even had the payment showing up on my card. So far not a single hitch. It runs a little bit hot, so that is a factor to keep in mind before using it on your bare legs in the middle of summer. But I've got two online games I play (one of which is a system monster) and both run spectacularly. The audio is by far the best I've heard from a laptop to date.

3 out of 5 stars OK, but not for my purposes.   May 16, 2010

I use a laptop for my small consulting business, both as a desk top replacement in my home office and as my primary work tool in customer locations and on the road. I write many reports and travel on a regular basis. Because of this, I found this computer did not meet my needs. The keyboard is flat and not organized in a user friendly fashion, particularly in regards to the arrow and delete buttons. The speakers are of poor quality and sound level so low that that listening to music while working or watching a movie while in a hotel room without head phones is not enjoyable. The touch pad is hard to adjust so that it is not overly sensitive. Battery life is OK, about 2.5 hours, and the processor speed and screen quality is adequate. However, I sent this item back for another laptop that better meets my needs.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent General Purpose Laptop   April 10, 2010

I have used this laptop for about a month and I am very happy with it. It works great for web surfing, email, word processing, watching movies and streaming video. It also works well with my wireless N home network. The Turion II Ultra processor is very capable and the Radeon graphics are the best integrated graphics you will find. It will play Direct X 9 games like Halo at full resolution without a hitch. The speakers sound better than I expected and the laptop looks like a more expensive machine. If you do heavy video editing or other graphics intensive activities, you need a machine with a separate graphics card and the latest high end processor, but the vast majority of users would be very satisfied with the performance of this Gateway. It is a real bargain at $530.

I've had this laptop for about a month and it is awesome, it runs great and looks better, to be honest I don't have any complaints on this product, I vastly recommend it.
